We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our team, carrying out the inspection of precision machined parts and assemblies from both subcontract suppliers and our in-house machine shop. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong inspection experience, excellent attention to detail, and confidence using both conventional measuring equipment and CMM systems, ideally ABERLINK AXIOM, including programming.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect mechanical components and assemblies to ensure they meet drawing and specification requirements
- Use a range of traditional inspection tools and 3-axis CMM equipment
- Create and run CMM inspection programs
- Identify and report non-conforming parts quickly and accurately
- Check certification and supporting documentation for incoming materials and components
- Update inspection records and reject notes on the ERP system
- Support prototype, production, and supplier inspection activities
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration status is up to date
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Inspector in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and mechanical inspection techniques
- Experience inspecting precision machined parts, ideally including pressure vessel components
- Experience using ABERLINK AXIOM CMM equipment, manual and CNC, with programming ability
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Strong communication skills and a methodical approach to quality
Desirable
- Experience with supplier quality issues or audits
- Knowledge of PMI testing, chemical etching, or ESD requirements
- Experience inspecting sub-assemblies, cables, coils, or battery packs
