An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PCB Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering and manufacturing business developing advanced technology products for global markets. Working as part of a collaborative Product Development team, you'll play a key role in the design and development of electronic hardware, PCB layouts and cable assemblies, supporting projects from concept through to validation, certification and production release.
This is an excellent opportunity for an electronics hardware engineer who enjoys designing robust, high-performance electronic solutions and wants to work on technically challenging new product developments.
The RoleAs a PCB Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, development and validation of electronic hardware, ensuring products meet performance, safety and compliance requirements before release into manufacture.
Key responsibilities include:- Design of mixed-signal electronic circuits, including analogue and digital systems.
- Schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout using Altium Designer or similar CAD software.
- Design and development of cable assemblies and wiring looms.
- Management of PCB component libraries and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Supporting product safety, EMC and regulatory compliance activities.
- Defining verification and validation requirements for new electronic designs.
- Producing technical documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Supporting manufacturing with technical investigations, design improvements and new product introduction activities.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to successfully deliver innovative products.
We're looking for someone with a strong background in electronics hardware design who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and developing reliable, manufacturable products. You'll ideally have:
- Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Around 2-3 years' experience within an electronics design and development environment.
- Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer or similar.
- Experience designing mixed-signal electronic circuits, including analogue and digital electronics.
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs with multiple voltage rails and split-plane layouts.
- Knowledge of PCB component selection, BOM management and component libraries.
- Experience designing cable assemblies and wiring harnesses.
- Practical soldering skills, including SMT assembly and rework.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Embedded C/C++ development for STM32 or other ARM-based microcontrollers.
- Python or C/C++ development for PC applications.
- EMC design principles.
- High-speed PCB design (>1GHz).
- Functional safety or regulatory compliance standards.
