The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Validation & Test Engineer to take ownership of testing across our charging and energy systems. This role is highly practical; you'll be physically building, wiring, configuring, and debugging systems to ensure performance, safety, and compliance. You'll work across electro-mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems, supporting delivery from concept through to deployment and helping establish scalable validation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own validation planning aligned to system and component requirements
- Define and develop test methods, procedures, and acceptance criteria
- Build, wire, configure and instrument test setups, rigs, and prototypes
- Execute hands-on testing across electrical, mechanical and embedded systems
- Capture, analyse and report results with clear traceability to requirements
- Support DVP&R activities and validation milestones
- Carry out safety risk assessments and ensure safe execution of testing
- Develop test tools, scripts and automation to improve efficiency
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Support regulatory and certification testing requirements
- Contribute to building in-house test capability
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Background as a Senior Technician or Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Automotive Engineering
- Experience in validation, verification or test engineering within EV, energy or industrial systems
- Strong understanding of system-level validation and test methodologies
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems and communication interfaces
- Proven ability to build, wire and configure test setups and prototypes
- Experience analysing test data and producing clear outputs
- Familiarity with safety risk assessment in a test environment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Desirable:
- EV charging systems or protocols (OCPP / OCPI)
- Battery systems or power electronics
- IoT systems, telemetry or cloud integration
- Test automation or scripting (Python or similar)
- Exposure to regulatory compliance and certification testing
