A growing electronics manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Senior NPI Engineer to join its Production Engineering team in Great Yarmouth. Supporting projects across the defence, aerospace and oil & gas sectors, you'll play a key role in bringing new products into manufacture while leading manufacturing engineering projects from concept through to production.
Working closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Design Engineering, you'll ensure new products are introduced efficiently whilst driving continuous improvement across existing manufacturing processes. The Role
- Take ownership of manufacturing engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery of New Product Introduction (NPI), process improvements and industrialisation activities.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, manage project plans and support the transition of products from development into full production.
- Provide hands-on support to manufacturing operations, helping resolve production challenges, improve manufacturing capability and optimise quality, efficiency and throughput.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Manufacturing Engineering and NPI projects from concept through to production.
- Coordinate New Product Introduction activities, production readiness and manufacturing trials.
- Support industrialisation of new and existing products.
- Develop project plans, schedules and monitor progress against key milestones.
- Coordinate activities across Manufacturing, Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Design Engineering.
- Manage project risks, actions and priorities to ensure successful delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement, yield improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Support capacity planning and manufacturing process optimisation.
- Produce project reports, dashboards and updates for senior stakeholders.
- Ensure manufacturing documentation, processes and training are completed prior to production release.
- Provide engineering support to resolve manufacturing and production issues.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing principles and operational excellence across the business.
About You
We're looking for an organised Manufacturing or NPI Engineer who enjoys managing projects, improving manufacturing processes and working collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines. You'll ideally have:
- Experience within Manufacturing Engineering, NPI or Industrialisation.
- Previous experience delivering engineering or manufacturing projects.
- Strong planning and project coordination skills.
- Experience working within electronics manufacturing or other high-reliability industries.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with Production, Quality and Design Engineering teams.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience within electronics, defence, aerospace, oil & gas or other regulated manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
- A qualification in Engineering (Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent) is preferred, with project management qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2 or PMP beneficial but not essential.
