Can be based at Milton Keynes or Great Yarmouth. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team working on cutting-edge, high-reliability electronic systems for aerospace and defence applications. This is a technically challenging role focused on the design, development, and sustainment of hybrid microelectronic circuits, offering the opportunity to influence both new product development and legacy system performance.

The Role

You will play a key role in the design and integration of advanced hybrid microelectronics (chip-and-wire / chip-and-bond wire assemblies), ensuring robust electrical performance, manufacturability, and long-term reliability in demanding environments. Acting as a technical leader within a multidisciplinary team, you will take ownership of critical design activities while supporting continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of advanced RF circuits, subsystems, and system architectures
  • Design and develop hybrid microelectronic circuits, including die attach and wire bonding technologies
  • Own circuit design activities: schematic capture, simulation, analysis, and validation
  • Support legacy product sustainment, including upgrades, issue resolution, and performance improvements
  • Ensure compliance with high-reliability standards for aerospace and defence applications
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly robustness
  • Define and review schematics, layouts, and hybrid assembly drawings
  • Select and evaluate components suitable for harsh and high-reliability environments
  • Contribute to lifecycle and obsolescence management through informed design decisions
  • Participate in design reviews, verification, and technical sign-off processes
  • Lead or support root cause analysis and failure investigations
  • Work with suppliers and procurement on component selection and technical issues
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (including IPC and aerospace/defence requirements)
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers

About You

You are a skilled and methodical engineer with a strong background in hybrid microelectronics and high-reliability circuit design.
