We are seeking an experienced and driven Electronics Project Engineering Lead to join a growing Design Engineering team delivering advanced electronic systems for aerospace and aviation applications. This is a key leadership role, combining hands-on technical expertise with project and people management responsibilities. You will lead the design, development, and delivery of high-reliability electronic hardware solutions, while guiding a team of RF and electronics engineers through the full product lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative, robust, and manufacturable products that meet demanding safety, quality, and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of electronic hardware systems, including analogue, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Define system and hardware architectures in accordance with aviation industry standards, including DO-254.
  • Manage the complete hardware development lifecycle, from requirements capture through design, verification, validation, and certification support.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, safety, environmental, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Act as the technical authority for electronics engineering activities across multiple projects.
  • Lead formal design reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
  • Drive engineering project delivery, ensuring effective planning, resource allocation, risk management, and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborate closely with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and programme teams.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring successful transition from development into production.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to bids and proposals, providing technical solutions, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, methodologies, and best practices.

About You

You will be an accomplished electronics engineering professional with experience delivering complex projects within aerospace, aviation, defence, or other highly regulated and safety-critical industries.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in electronic hardware design, including analogue, digital, and/or mixed-signal systems.
  • Proven experience delivering engineering projects in aerospace, aviation, defence, or other safety-critical environments.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of DO-254 hardware development and certification processes.
  • Experience leading engineering projects, technical teams, or multidisciplinary development programmes.
  • Familiarity with structured product development lifecycles and gated design review processes.
  • Experience working within regulated quality management systems such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
