The Opportunity

An opportunity for a mid to senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy delivering complex, high-performance systems across defence, aerospace, marine, and automotive sectors. You will initially support a highly regulated programme within a defence-aligned environment, while gaining exposure to a wider portfolio of innovative, technically challenging projects. The role offers a balanced split between hands-on design and project support, working closely with a Principal Design Engineer to deliver robust, real-world solutions. This is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical design work and involvement in the wider project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of mechanical systems from concept through to delivery
  • Work closely with the Principal Design Engineer on technical delivery and project milestones

  • Experience in mechanical design within a regulated or high-performance environment (e.g. defence, aerospace, marine, or automotive)
  • Strong working knowledge of CATIA V5 (3DExperience beneficial)
  • Solid understanding of mechanisms, materials, and engineering first principles
  • Experience working within a project-driven engineering environment
  • Exposure to pneumatic systems would be advantageous

Profile

  • Operating at a mid-senior level, comfortable taking ownership while supporting senior engineers
  • Strong communicator, able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proactive, organised, and delivery-focused
  • Motivated by a role that combines design engineering with project involvement

Why Apply?

  • Work across defence, aerospace, marine, and automotive projects
  • Initial involvement in a highly regulated, defence-aligned programme
  • Close collaboration with experienced engineers
  • Opportunity to develop both technically and within project delivery
  • Supportive, engineering-led environment
