An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Development Vehicle Technician to join a dynamic vehicle development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, maintaining, preparing, and supporting multi-project test and development vehicles and rigs across a range of programmes.
The role involves working both on-site and at various test locations, including proving grounds and racing circuits. Frequent travel within the UK, Europe, and occasionally worldwide may be required, alongside flexibility to support activities outside standard working hours.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble, maintain, service, and update concept, mule, prototype, and production-level vehicles and simulation rigs to the highest standards.
- Prepare and operate vehicles for test and development activities at multiple locations, including proving grounds and racing circuits.
- Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure vehicle specifications, quality standards, and programme schedules are achieved.
- Interpret engineering drawings and instrumentation schedules to ensure safe and accurate builds, modifications, and updates.
- Maintain workshop facilities and equipment to exceptional standards.
- Support testing activities and vehicle operations in workshop, road, and test environments.
- Promote and uphold health and safety standards across all activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and foster a high-performance team culture.
- Extensive experience in motorsport, prototype, low-volume, or high-performance vehicle builds.
- Strong understanding of vehicle manufacture, assembly, and operation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Valid passport with willingness to travel internationally.
- IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and other engineering software packages.
- Welding, machining, and fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems, including fault finding and repair.
- Experience using diagnostic tools such as Monaco, CANape, and INCA.
- Familiarity with virtual vehicle or development software platforms.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.
