This is a really nice opportunity for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join a growing design and manufacturing company in the southern Hampshire area. This company recently received major investment and has secured one of their biggest projects to date.
You will be joining a small team of test professionals and helping to bolster the team with your industry experience. You will be performing calculations, designing tests and concepts, leading the process and working closely with the manufacturing, design and analysis teams. The majority of the tests are bend, tension and burst often operating in the 2500-4000 bar range, so any experience with high pressure testing would be advantageous, as would a sincere appreciation of health and safety.
Principal Accountabilities- Develop and carry out short and long-term tests of composite pipe.
- Manage suppliers of test equipment and 3rd party test houses to enable the efficient execution of test activities both internally and externally.
- Lead the development of testing methods and projects (including instrumentation) to facilitate greater understanding of composite pipe structural performance.
- Prepare test procedures, analyse test data and write test reports to clearly communicate the objectives, methods and results of test campaigns.
- Provide support to Business Development, by proposing appropriate testing methodologies to develop solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Education: Bachelors, Masters or PhD in relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering.
- Technical Skills: knowledge of test methodologies used for composites structures, knowledge of different instrumentation methods, good report writing skills, familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD packages, data processing experience in Excel, Python or similar software packages, subsea engineering experience.
- Interpersonal Skills: energy and enthusiasm for tackling challenging engineering problems, team player, leadership skills, good communication skills.
