Our client are a leading manufacturing business and we are supporting them to recruit a Buyer to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing related activity ensuring that material (direct and indirect) is available when needed and supply is optimised in-line with company strategies.

Key duties:

  • Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, lead-times and payment terms
  • Generate and issue purchase orders and obtain order acknowledgements
  • Manage deliveries and inventory (expediting and rescheduling) and keep the MRP system updated with current delivery dates
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding the status of indirect purchase orders
  • Input and maintain master data within the MRP system
  • Manage and implement design changes with minimal business impact
  • Supplier KPI reporting
  • Resolve invoice and/or delivery queries
  • Support new product development and introduction
  • Identify and manage supply chain risk
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and reporting of cost savings and avoidance

Required Experience:

  • Purchasing professional with at least 2 years experience in a supply chain setting
  • Experience of working in the technology sector and a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
  • Strong commercial / financial acumen
  • IT literate, strong knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in either a technical or business discipline would be an advantage
