Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that works on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The European Division of Electronics designs and develops electrical and electronic control systems for diesel engine and machine prime products developed and produced in Europe. The Engine Systems Team is part of the Electronics European Division and is responsible for the development and implementation of Electrical and Electronic control systems for Powertrains developed in the UK.
The successful candidate will be working on a variety of Electronic system projects to develop systems that meet both regulatory and customer requirements. This role is for the primary technical support for the Engine Electronic system. It will entail proactively working with other Electronics team members and with development partners, on the complete product development lifecycle from development prior to production through to post-production maintenance.
- Participate in the definition of the system architecture and related diagrams and schematics.
- Participate in the selection of suitable Electronic components.
- Participate in the failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and validation activities for the Electronic system and components.
- Maintain and improve validation test plans.
- Provide technical support to queries related to pinouts, schematic questions and software functionality support.
- Investigate, analyse and troubleshoot any reported quality issues.
Demonstrated experience of:
- Integration activities of the system for both fault finding and for Electronic system design, including PWM, analogue and communications signals, and experience of how to integrate the Electronic components together.
- Actively collecting and developing detailed Electronic related customer requirements, resulting in Electronic technical specifications.
- Defining Electronic features and coordinating their development by other teams.
- Performing system verification testing of components and software features.
- Participation in FMEA development.
- Understanding internal combustion engines and how they are controlled.
- Ability to build strong working relationships, locally and within a Global team.
Desirable:
- Off-highway Electronic control system development experience (or comparable experience with automotive, marine or military vehicle control systems).
- Knowledge of engine systems associated with the electronic system, e.g., Fuel and Air system.
- Requirements management (DOORS, Teamcenter etc.).
- Controller Area Networks (CAN), Vector CANape and CANalyzer tool experience.
- Proficient in oscilloscope use in development.
- Product structuring and configuration tools, e.g., Siemens Teamcenter Engineering, Creo.
- PPAP or FMEA facilitator and design validation planning experience.
