Technology Director/Head of Engineering & Product Delivery
Surbiton, London
£100-120k + Equity
Lead the commercialisation of breakthrough technology that will help decarbonise industrial process heat.
Futraheat is a pioneering UK clean-tech business developing high-temperature heat pump technology to transform how industry generates process heat and steam.
We are now moving from technology development into commercial deployment and product industrialisation, with our first commercial Greensteam systems being developed alongside a strategic OEM investor-partner.
We are looking for a Technology Leader to own this next phase.
The role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead Futraheat's technology, product development and engineering activities, helping turn novel technology into a robust, commercially viable and repeatable industrial product.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and commercialisation of Greensteam and TurboClaw.
- Drive first commercial deployments and customer acceptance.
- Develop the technology and product roadmap.
- Lead product industrialisation, DFM, supply chain, manufacturing, cost and reliability.
- Build and develop the engineering organisation.
- Establish engineering processes, governance and technical standards.
- Act as senior technical interface with OEM partners, customers and suppliers.
- Support the CEO with strategic partnerships, commercial opportunities, fundraising and investor engagement.
- Provide technical leadership to the Board.
About you
We are looking for a commercially minded engineering or technology leader with experience taking complex industrial technology from development through commercialisation and manufacture.
Your background could include:
- Heat pumps or refrigeration
- Compressors / rotating machinery
- Thermal or process systems
- Heat exchangers
- Industrial equipment or energy technology
- Complex engineered products / OEM environments
You will ideally have experience leading multidisciplinary teams, industrialising products, working with OEMs and customers, and balancing technology, cost, performance, reliability and time-to-market.
You will be strategic but hands‑on, commercially aware, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.
Why Futraheat?
This is a pivotal opportunity to shape the technology, products and engineering organisation of a growing clean-tech business, working directly with the CEO, Board, major OEM partners and industrial customers.
You will play a central role in bringing innovative high-temperature heat pump technology into commercial deployment and helping decarbonise industrial heat.
The ideal candidate will have personally crossed the “prototype - first customer - industrialised product - repeatable manufacture” bridge, ideally in complex machinery/thermal/rotating equipment, and who can operate credibly with an OEM, customer, engineers, investors and CEO.
