Purpose of the Role
Drive quality excellence for new product launches from concept through mass production. Ensure error-free documentation, meet launch quality metrics, and coach internal teams and suppliers. Apply APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and other quality tools to secure successful product launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the APQP process for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Ensure design inputs, D-FMEAs, control plans, measurement system analysis (MSA), and process capability assessments are complete for launch readiness.
- Manage PPAP submissions: prepare, review, and submit packages including Part Submission Warrants, dimensional/material test results, control plans, and process flow charts; ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Facilitate cross-functional Design/Process FMEA (D/P-FMEA) sessions and maintain FMEAs throughout design and production.
- Provide guidance to suppliers, driving PPAP reviews and APQP deliverables.
- Lead internal process audits, support corrective actions (8D), and monitor launch metrics such as PPM and defective parts per million.
- Chair quality gate meetings (design review, pre-launch, launch health check) to secure production approval.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with AIAG-VDA FMEA methodology.
- Proven NPI experience in automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers, delivering full APQP and PPAP packages.
- Expertise in D-FMEA/P-FMEA processes, control plan development, SPC, MSA, process capability (Cp, Cpk), and DOE.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience in plastics and/or complex assemblies is an advantage.
- Skilled in preparing and reviewing PPAP documentation and control plans.
- Familiarity with APIS IQ software for PFMEA and control plan management.
- Strong auditing, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional influencing skills.
- Exposure to OEMs such as Jaguar Land Rover is a plus.
- Relevant qualifications: Degree, HND, HNC, IQA, or equivalent.
