Our automotive client is seeking a Vehicle Weight Analyst to join the business on a contract basis. Reporting to the Vehicle Weight Attribute Manager, the Vehicle Weight Analyst is responsible for maintaining cross-functional weight and mass properties data accuracy across multiple car lines throughout the product development lifecycle. This critical role ensures robust weight data is available for mass properties modelling, future programme and variant planning, system strategy development, and engineering decision making.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage comprehensive weight databases across all active vehicle programmes
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the product development lifecycle from concept through to production
- Develop and implement robust data management processes and systems to track component and vehicle weights
- Support multiple concurrent programmes including series production vehicles
- Collaborate with Function Group Engineering teams to provide weight data into relevant system(s) for programme tracking and modelling purposes
- Work closely with the Product Data Management (PDM) team to ensure accurate mass and product configuration representation across live programmes
- Interface with suppliers to obtain and verify component weight data
- Produce regular weight reports and gap analyses for weight programme attribute leads
Knowledge, skills & experience
- Essential
- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or related field
- Experience with data management and analysis, preferably in automotive or manufacturing
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects
- Desirable
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems (particularly 3DX/3DEXPERIENCE platform)
- Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems
- Understanding of automotive product development processes
- Experience in lightweight structures or composite materials
- Knowledge of CAD systems (CATIA V6 preferred)
