This role sits at the heart of the UK supply chain, overseeing third-party logistics (3PL) partners, customs activities, transport operations and inventory flow — ensuring everything moves efficiently, compliantly and cost-effectively.
The Role
As Logistics & 3PL Operations Coordinator, you’ll oversee end-to-end UK logistics operations. From managing warehouse and fulfilment partners to navigating customs requirements and optimising transport performance, you’ll be the key link between external providers and internal stakeholders. You’ll combine hands-on operational control with continuous improvement, ensuring high service levels while managing cost, compliance and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- 3PL & Warehouse Operations
- Manage day-to-day performance of UK 3PL partners across warehousing, fulfilment, value-added services and returns
- Monitor SLAs, KPIs, costs and capacity
- Lead regular performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure accurate inventory control, cycle counting and stock reconciliation
- Customs & Import / Export Operations
- Oversee UK inbound and outbound customs clearance activities
- Ensure compliance with UK customs regulations, HMRC requirements and post-Brexit procedures
- Manage relationships with customs brokers and freight forwarders
- Maintain accurate documentation, commodity codes and duty/tax calculations
- Transportation & Distribution
- Plan, coordinate and optimise domestic transport flows
- Manage carrier, parcel and freight partner relationships
- Monitor delivery performance, service levels and freight costs
- Resolve transport exceptions, delays, claims and stock discrepancies
- Operational Planning & Supply Chain Coordination
- Forecast logistics capacity based on demand and seasonal peaks
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to ensure smooth order flow
- Analyse logistics data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
- Support implementation of new systems and processes (e.g. track & trace)
- Cost, Budgeting & Reporting
- Manage logistics budgets and deliver cost-saving initiatives without compromising service
- Maintain KPI dashboards and provide regular reporting to leadership
- Review and approve freight invoices and logistics charges
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in logistics, supply chain or 3PL operations management
- Strong commercial and contract management capability
- Confident managing multiple stakeholders and resolving conflict
- Solid understanding of UK customs, import/export regulations and INCOTERMS
- Hands-on experience with warehousing, transportation and 3PL operations
- Strong problem-solving skills in time-sensitive environments
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Proficient in WMS / TMS systems and Microsoft Excel
Desirable
- Experience within e-commerce, retail or consumer goods logistics
- Knowledge of EU/UK post-Brexit customs processes
- Lean or continuous improvement qualifications (e.g. Six Sigma)
