Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Southampton - onsite, permanent, 4.5 day week Β£50-60k+ Benefits + Relocation Package

Ready to take technical ownership of complex, bespoke machinery? Join a highly specialised engineering team delivering advanced electro-mechanical systems across Medical, Industrial and Nuclear sectors. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive mechanical design from concept through manufacture, installation and commissioning.

The Role

  • Lead the mechanical design of complex industrial process equipment
  • Own the CAD system (Solid Edge), standards and design release process
  • Design bespoke machinery and integrated material handling systems
  • Ensure correct integration of RF, high-voltage and electrical control systems
  • Oversee documentation, compliance and design quality

What We're Looking For

  • Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience designing bespoke industrial machinery or process equipment
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (Solid Edge preferred; SolidWorks/Inventor/Creo welcome)
  • Sheet metal, frames, enclosures and structural design expertise
  • Experience integrating electrical systems with exposure to RF assemblies and high-voltage equipment (desirable)
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors and drive systems such as servo/stepper motors (desirable)
  • Strong grasp of DFM/DFA, tolerancing and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of CE / UKCA compliance (desirable)

Youll be a natural problem-solver who thrives in a project-driven environment and is experienced acting as a technical lead or design authority.
