Principal Suspension Design Engineer
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a hands-on Principal Suspension Design Engineer to lead the design, development and validation of advanced suspension and damper systems for high-profile programmes.
This is a senior technical role combining practical design engineering with technical leadership, remaining actively involved in CAD, engineering calculations, problem-solving, prototype builds and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver hands-on suspension and damper design from concept to production.
- Produce and review 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Conduct design calculations, technical reviews and engineering validation.
- Support prototype builds, testing, root-cause analysis and design improvements.
- Drive R&D, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
- Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to resolve complex engineering challenges.
Essential Experience
- Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years’ automotive engineering experience, ideally in suspension, dampers or chassis systems.
- Strong hands-on CAD skills, preferably Siemens NX, and GD&T knowledge.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, DFMEA, testing and validation.
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
Knowledge of hydraulics, seals, bearings, tribology, materials or FEA would be advantageous.
