The Role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused Purchase Ledger Assistant to take ownership of the end-to-end accounts payable function. This is a key role within the finance team, working closely with the Finance Director and playing a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the smooth running of the business. You’ll manage a busy ledger of circa 1,000 invoices per month, so confidence, organisation, and a hands-on approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of the purchase ledger function from start to finish
  • Processing high volumes of supplier invoices (circa 1,000 per month)
  • Matching, batching, and coding invoices using Sage Line 50
  • Managing supplier queries and building strong working relationships
  • Preparing and supporting payment runs
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
  • Supporting month-end processes and reporting where required
  • Working closely with the Finance Director on day-to-day finance operations

  • Proven experience in a Purchase Ledger / Accounts Payable role
  • Experience using Sage Line 50 or similar Finance systems
  • Comfortable managing high volumes with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive, organised, and able to take ownership of your workload
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Reliable and happy working in a fully office-based role
  • Confident Excel user
