We're supporting a well-backed, fintech-enabled MGA launched by an established mortgage business, building an innovative insurance proposition for UK mortgage lenders and their lending portfolios.
Working directly with the Chief Underwriting Officer, you'll help assess lender portfolios, analyse risk, shape underwriting decisions and play a key role in building the underwriting function as the business grows. This is a genuinely unique opportunity and we're keen to hear from candidates from either a specialist mortgage lending or credit insurance/trade credit background. You don't need experience in both.
Key responsibilities- Assess lender underwriting quality and portfolio risk
- Review loan tapes, arrears, defaults and performance trends
- Produce underwriting recommendations and Credit Committee papers
- Support underwriting governance, risk controls and product development
- Help shape the underwriting framework as the business scales
- Specialist residential or Buy-to-Let underwriting
- Bridging, development or commercial real estate lending
- Portfolio credit risk or lending policy
- Credit insurance or trade credit underwriting
- Credit Committee papers, underwriting governance or portfolio analysis
- Strong underwriting judgement and commercial awareness
- Experience assessing complex secured lending or credit risk
- A hands-on approach and desire to help build something from the ground up
- Excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills
- Work directly with an experienced Chief Underwriting Officer
