Home Insurance Hybrid - 1 day in office p/wk

A high-performing UK insurer is hiring a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join its Technical Pricing & Underwriting function. This is a hands-on, data-led role focused on portfolio performance, net pricing, and the deployment of model and pricing changes across the home market. You’ll monitor underwriting performance down to segment level, identify issues/opportunities, recommend actions, and support the deployment of changes (model overlays, segmented actions, product-driven changes). You’ll work closely with Underwriting and Commercial stakeholders in a fast-paced, “start-up-like” environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own day-to-day portfolio and underwriting performance monitoring
  • Deliver pricing & underwriting reviews to assess rating adequacy against emerging trends
  • Overlay and deploy models (GLM/GBM), and improve the algorithm that sets the final net price
  • Source, test and deploy new features via data enrichment and feature engineering
  • Help expand pricing/underwriting footprint across the UK home market
  • Support loss ratio forecasting and robust performance reporting (AvE, AP/TP, RMI, triangles)
  • Improve tooling/methodology through automation and best practice, including regulatory change awareness

What you’ll need:

  • 3+ years personal lines pricing/actuarial experience (home insurance strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of home insurance products and market/emerging risks
  • Practical experience with technical pricing models (GLMs + GBMs) and deployment/overlays
  • Strong SQL (core) plus strong working knowledge of R
  • Data visualisation experience: Plotly, Shiny/FlexDashboard, Leaflet (or Tableau/Power BI also useful)
  • Comfortable working with code/technology; willingness to pick up basic Java (in-house rating system)
  • Clear communicator who can explain pricing impacts and challenge constructively

Nice to have:

  • Databricks

If you’re a home pricing/portfolio specialist who enjoys owning performance, deploying change, and improving tooling, then please send your CV for immediate consideration.
