Embedded Talent Specialist — Insurance Start-Up Build-Out 3-month Fixed Term Contract | £65,000–£70,000 per annum (pro rata) | Hybrid, UK | Immediate start
The opportunity
This is not a seat on a recruitment desk. You'll be embedded as the dedicated talent partner inside a newly launching specialist commercial motor insurance business as it stands up its UK operation, a hard launch date on the horizon, and a founding team still to be built.
Your job: find, engage and land a small number of exceptional people. Underwriting, distribution and technology hires with deep networks in commercial fleet, haulage, last-mile and courier insurance, the calibre of person who is never on the open market, is usually mid-process elsewhere, and needs to be drawn out and convinced. Every hire you make will be part of the shop window this business presents to its capacity partners and the market.
You'll be employed by Vermelo RPO, and deployed directly into the client working alongside the founders day to day, with the full backing of our sourcing tooling, insurance-sector networks and delivery method behind you.
What you'll do
- Own the founding-hire recruitment plan end to end: role definition, market mapping, headhunting, engagement, offer management and close
- Direct-source passive senior candidates across commercial motor, fleet and specialty insurance, this is a headhunting brief, not an advert-and-apply role
- Act as the client's talent voice in the market: pitching the opportunity, the equity story and the founder journey credibly to senior insurance professionals
- Advise the founders on offer construction, market rates and candidate risk
- Move fast. The business has a launch date; the team must be in place ahead of it
What we're looking for
- A proven track record recruiting within UK insurance, commercial motor, fleet, MGA or specialty markets strongly preferred
- Genuine headhunting capability: you can map a market, approach cold at senior level, and convert
- Experience recruiting for start-ups, MGA launches or new team build-outs, where the pitch is the vision rather than the brand
- Comfortable operating embedded and autonomous, you'll be the entire talent function
- Available immediately or at short notice for a 3-month engagement, with the possibility of extension as the business scales
What's on offer
- Full tooling provided, including a LinkedIn Recruiter licence
- A rare brief: building the founding team of a funded insurance start-up from the ground up, at the moment it matters most
- Hybrid working with time alongside the founding team
- This is an initial 2/3 month Fixed term contract with option to extend based on success
- You must be available to start during week commencing 20th July
