A highly regarded South East law firm is seeking an experienced Residential Property Solicitor to join its partnership team and lead the continued growth of its Residential Property offering in Lewes. This is a rare opportunity for a senior lawyer who wants to make a genuine strategic impact. Importantly, you do not need to bring a client following. The focus is on finding the right leader to develop an already successful and well-established team for the future.

The Opportunity
As Partner and Head of Residential Property, you will lead both the operational and strategic direction of the department while managing a high-quality caseload. Working alongside experienced colleagues across Property, Private Client and Commercial teams, you will help shape the future growth of the practice. The team advises on a broad range of matters including:
- Prime and high-value residential transactions
- Country houses, estates and listed properties
- Development and site acquisitions
- Portfolio acquisitions and disposals
- Lease extensions and new leases
- Transfers of equity and equity release
- Re-mortgages and refinancing
- Easements, licences and variations
Transactions regularly range into the multi-million-pound bracket, with matters valued up to approximately £50 million.
Key Responsibilities
Fee Earning:
- Manage a varied residential property caseload from instruction to completion.
- Provide commercially focused advice to a high-quality client base.
- Build strong relationships with clients and professional referrers.
- Deliver an exceptional standard of client service.
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead, mentor and develop the Residential Property team.
- Drive improvements in processes, efficiency and service delivery.
- Contribute to the firm's wider strategic objectives.
- Support business development and identify opportunities for growth.
- Ensure compliance, risk management and quality standards are maintained.
About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor with:
- 8+ years' PQE in Residential Property.
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of residential property matters.
- Previous team management or supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Commercial awareness and a strategic mindset.
- A passion for mentoring and developing others.
No following or portable client base is required. This role is ideal for an experienced lawyer looking to step into a genuine leadership position with the opportunity to shape and grow an established practice.
