An experienced Housing Options candidate is required on a temporary basis to join a team of Housing Needs professionals to carry out the function of triage and casework, making decisions on homeless cases to reduce backlogs and waiting times for applications to be assessed.

Duties of the Housing Options Officer include:

  • To investigate, assess, assist and advise customers on their housing options.
  • To work with clients to prevent homelessness.
  • Assisting clients to keep their existing accommodation or to get alternative accommodation.
  • Provide tenancy, rights to occupation, welfare and benefits advice to clients.
  • Ensure that potential safeguarding issues involving both adults and children are identified and appropriate actions are taken.

The ideal Housing Options Officer will have:

  • Experience with Section 184 decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
