We are looking for an experienced and personable Private Client Adviser to join our team. This client‑facing role involves working directly with high‑net and ultra‑high‑net worth individuals and families with complex UK and cross‑border tax issues, including residency, property assets, estate planning, and trusts. You will provide practical, clear advice to help clients optimise their tax and manage UK tax compliance obligations.
Responsibilities:
- High degree of autonomy reporting to the Private Client Tax Partners or Manager depending on their level.
- Client management and communication on a regular basis.
- Prepare and/or review UK Self‑Assessment tax returns, including reporting of worldwide income, foreign tax credits, complex disclosures, and interpreting double tax agreements.
- Prepare and/or review CGT (non‑res CGT), ATED, ROE registrations and annual updates, Corporation Tax returns for non‑UK resident landlord companies.
- Support clients with HMRC enquiries, settlements, and disclosures (e.g., Worldwide Disclosure Facility).
- Provide tailored advice on global mobility including pre‑and post‑arrival UK tax planning.
- Prepare advisory reports on strategic UK tax planning for international clients and their offshore corporate and trust structures.
- Deliver advice in respect of UK properties, including property structuring advice for trading or investment purposes.
- Advise on changes to UK tax legislation relevant to international clients, including the pre‑6 April 2025 remittance basis regime and the new post‑5‑April 2025 rules, i.e., the four‑year FIG regime, TRF, and long‑term residence for IHT.
- Assist with planning around international succession, trusts, and estate tax exposure.
- Liaise with intermediaries—including family offices, lawyers, offshore trustees, investment managers, and overseas tax advisers—to deliver holistic tax solutions.
- Offer property restructuring advice.
- Help clients implement estate planning strategies to reduce their IHT exposure.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UK and tax developments affecting individuals and proactively share insights with the team and clients.
- Contribute to marketing materials such as articles.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: ATT, CTA, or ACA, or equivalent (at least ATT qualified or part‑qualified CTA/ACA – if at senior associate level or fully qualified if at assistant manager and upwards level with strong relevant experience).
- Experience: At least three‑four years in personal tax, ideally in a private‑client focused firm or specialist team dealing with HNW private clients.
- Strong grasp of UK non‑dom taxation, the remittance basis, and international personal tax concepts such as mixed funds and analysis work.
- Comfortable working with clients who have offshore structures, trusts, or dual residence/tax exposure.
- Organised and meticulous approach to compliance and reporting work with ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously.
- Confident communicator, especially with international clients, who builds trust and enjoys developing long‑term relationships.
