The successful candidate will join the Data Intelligence team and be responsible for the technical management, stability, evolution, and strategic direction of CAD/GIS processing platforms while actively developing and deploying advanced automation capabilities. This role will support and enhance our data processing, geotechnical, geophysical, inspection and geo-data analytics (Geowynd) and advice service delivery teams. The position bridges current production needs with future-state architecture, ensuring today’s data workflows are robust, scalable, and trusted, while shaping next-generation solutions using automation and applied AI by steering our technology, digital and software team.

What you will do:

  • Technical Leadership & Ownership: Act as Technical Lead for Geomatics systems, data workflows, coordinate systems, and geospatial standards across the organisation. Own the end-to-end architecture of CAD/GIS data processing, from raw inputs through automated pipelines to final client deliverables. Set technical direction and best practice for FME, ESRI Enterprise platforms, Python-based automation, and data orchestration tooling. Provide hands-on leadership, mentorship, and guidance to geomatics and data teams on automation-first delivery.
  • Platform & Delivery Enablement: Own, manage and develop web-based GIS platforms (e.g. ESRI Portal / Enterprise) for internal and client-facing digital solutions. Ensure delivery systems are dependable, scalable, and aligned with project demand for all GIS/CAD deliverables. Support data delivery teams by ensuring tooling, data pipelines, and platforms are production-ready and resilient. Lead integration across CAD/GIS, Survey, Processing, Data Reporting, and Data Insights & Advice functions to create a unified data ecosystem. Act as subject matter expert for GIS with our internal technology, digital and software team to develop leading technology automated delivery and new digital products.
  • Governance & Assurance: Define and enforce data standards, validation rules, and quality frameworks for geo-data GIS/CAD deliverables. Where required, work closely with geomatics contractors and partners to ensure documented workflows match actual system behaviour. Ensure CAD/GIS systems meet contractual, client, and regulatory obligations for data handling and delivery.
  • Innovation and Team Development: Foster a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, mentorship, and professional integrity across the Data Intelligence function in GIS domain. Support the development of clear technical career pathways for junior team members, enabling progression and recognition of technical expertise without requiring transition into people management roles. Contribute to strategic leadership discussions by articulating the technical feasibility, constraints, and implications of business and delivery decisions. Lead and steer the development of high-quality scientific and technical papers, presentations, and publications, positioning Ocean Infinity as an industry leader through peer-reviewed journals and world-leading conferences.

Who you are:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in Geomatics/Geospatial Science, Computer Science, Geography, Geology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with leading GIS platforms, including QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Proven technical leadership in GIS data management, with advanced analytical capability and a track record of delivering high-quality, insight-driven outputs.
  • Outstanding communicator, able to build credibility and influence across disciplines, stakeholders, and leadership levels.
  • Strong experience working with offshore geo-data and its associated challenges.
  • Ability to design, architect, and guide enterprise-scale GIS and geospatial data solutions.
