Geothermal Engineering is developing the first geothermal power plant in the UK at its site in United Downs near Redruth, Cornwall. Our site is entering the next phase of development, including the commissioning of the lithium demonstration plant that utilises naturally occurring lithium resource in the geothermal brine.
We are now seeking a full time Process Technician to join our dedicated team and play a key role in the execution of the lithium project.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on the safe efficient operation of the lithium demonstration plant. You will be involved in routine plant operations, maintenance, and sampling whilst ensuring adherences to health and safety practices. Working alongside project specialists you will help us demonstrate how Cornwall can be at the forefront of lithium production in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor the lithium demonstration plant in line with standard operating procedures (SoP\’s).
Support the development and continuous improvement of SoP\’s.
Conduct routine sampling and testing.
Manage stock levels, consumables and spare parts of the plant.
Ensure all work complies with the health and safety regulations and contribute to the safe systems of work.
Perform basic equipment maintenance and tasks.
Work collaboratively with all departments including the power plant, drilling and community engagement teams.
Additional ad hoc duties as and when required.
Requirements:
Essential:
Minimum of 3 years\’ work experience in a technical of industrial setting.
A suitable technical degree (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar)
Sound knowledge of mechanical systems and process equipment.
Able to work methodically and follow technical procedures.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and practices.
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
Competent in Microsoft Office or similar.
A full UK driving license.
Right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role).
Desirable:
Experience in chemical processing, hydrometallurgy, or industrial plant operation.
Knowledge of plant safety and operational protocols.
Interest in renewable energy and sustainable technologies.
Health and Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH)
Capable of working safely to tight deadlines
Forklift/telehandler license
