Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mid-Career or Senior Geostructural Engineer to join our Geostructural and Construction Engineering business in New England. The ideal candidate will be based in one of our offices in Acton, MA, Hamilton, MA and Bedford, NH.
This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced Project Manager (or Senior Project Manager) who is interested in contributing to the financial and technical evaluation, concept evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages for innovative and challenging projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate and assist in the growth of Geosyntec's Geostructural and Construction Engineering business across Geosyntec, with an emphasis on the Northeast U.S. markets.
- Proposal preparation for geotechnical, geostructural, and structural opportunities, and collaborate with other remediation, geoenvironmental, and waterfront practice leaders in execution of multi-disciplinary proposals.
- Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
- Manage challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management.
- Leading and reviewing and managing written document production including technical reports, basis of design documents, calculation packages, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Preparing and/or implementing designs and strategies for geotechnical, structural, construction engineering and multidisciplinary projects.
- Management and mentoring of early-career or mid-career staff.
- Project management, including client management, technical planning and implementation, budgeting and budget management, subcontractor management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
- At times, project requirements may also include travel to project sites for construction administration, engineer of record roles, and quality management.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or a similar field of study (required).
- Advanced degree in civil engineering with specialization in geotechnical or structural engineering (preferred).
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) (required).
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 7 years (8+ preferred) of direct geotechnical and/or structural engineering and consulting experience working with multi-disciplined project teams; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
- Experience working as a consultant or design engineer for heavy-civil, specialty geotechnical, industrial, general building, or environmental remediation contractors (desirable).
- Detailed understanding of applicable state and municipal regulations, building codes, and design codes (required).
- Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients (required).
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced construction consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed (preferred).
- Current OSHA 30-hr Construction or OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).
- Fieldwork and overnight travel may be required.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
