Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director level Hydrogeologist to join our contaminated land practice in the UK. This position is suited to a talented, highly motivated individual with extensive experience in contaminated land, groundwater assessment and remediation consulting, who is interested in leading and contributing to our innovative and challenging projects. The successful candidate could be based near one of our offices in Manchester, Bristol or Delph, or fully remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work on a wide variety of challenging technical projects and help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities.
- Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture.
- Grow our site investigation & remediation practice through client relationships, business development efforts and implementing market growth initiatives.
- Project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, meeting project schedules, quality requirements and client expectations.
- Data assessment and development of conceptual site models.
- Design, implement and interpret hydrogeological field test results (e.g. slug testing, pumping tests, packer tests etc.).
- Design, development and calibration of groundwater models to assess groundwater migration/problems and where needed solute transport, or thermal modelling.
- Undertake risk assessments (controlled waters and human health) using both analytical and (where appropriate) numerical packages.
- Interpret modelling results to answer project objectives and identify/develop remediation criteria or further works including the design of further works, site investigations, and/or remediation strategies.
- Manage fieldwork tasks including site inspections, multi-media environmental sampling and characterisation, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and management of remediation system operations and maintenance.
- Manage remediation treatability and pilot tests with subsequent data evaluation, report writing and work plan development.
- Management, training and mentoring of early and mid-career professionals.
- Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
- Support the senior team in client care and development activities.

You will be able to engage with our global technical action groups, which promote collaboration across the company as well as individual professional development. Geosyntec will also provide health and safety training, first aid training and medical monitoring, as required, which will be paid for by the firm.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in geology, earth sciences, environmental engineering, or a related field of study. (required)
- Advanced degree in hydrogeology, or a related field of study (desirable but not essential).
- Professional registration (e.g. CGeol / CSci / EurGeol). (desirable)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 15 years of direct environmental consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Demonstrable track record of project delivery in the site investigation and remediation sector. (required)
- Experience of directing and managing the overall delivery of projects including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines. (required)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
- Field work and overnight travel may be required.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid UK driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
