Overview
Due to growth in our ground engineering business, we have an exciting new opportunity for an Early-Career Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Manchester.You will have the opportunity to apply your skills to a range of projects involving geotechnical investigations, mining legacy assessments, geo-environmental studies, contaminated land assessment and sustainable remediation, while expanding the business skills needed for a successful career in consulting.You will be supporting UK projects for national and international clients across a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, energy and renewables, food and beverages, and the financial sector.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities for our early-career positions include:
- The completion of various types of Phase 1 assessments including mining /geology, ground engineering, geohazards and contaminated land desk studies;
- Acting as a Site Engineer supervising Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental ground investigations / ground remediation / site validation on either short or long duration projects with potential working away from home;
- Supervision of site works including logging of soils and rock (in accordance with current UK standards);
- Geotechnical scheduling of laboratory testing;
- Site monitoring activities to include in-situ testing, groundwater sampling, gas and vapour monitoring;
- Liaising with clients, engineers, contractors and sub-contractors and other key stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of a project;
- Preparation of Phase 2 detailed factual and interpretative reports;
- The preparation of Health and Safety and contract documentation in accordance with the CDM Regulations and administration of contracts;
- Participate in internal conferences typically held in the United States or Canada to present work.

Education and Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering geology or civil engineering, or a related field of study. (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering geology (advantageous), geotechnical engineering, or a related field of study (preferred)
- Strong oral and written communication skills. (required)
- Valid driver’s license for the UK, and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
