The Building Services Department is seeking 1 Custodian I to join the already excellent team and help take the department to the next level of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provide custodial care for Georgia State University facilities.
- Clean and perform room set-ups in assigned building areas following established routines and procedures.
- Support the department Custodian I; assignments will generally fall into one of the following groupings, with potential overlap as needed:
- Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors; vacuums.
- Remove trash; clean counters, equipment, and furnishings.
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other assigned work areas.
- Clean and restock restrooms.
- Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas.
- Handle emergency clean-ups and perform related duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six months of experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Requirements
- Must be able to lift approximately 30-50 lbs and perform heavy lifting when required.
- Some knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
