The Property Control Department at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a reliable and hardworking Inventory Control Specialist for our campus located in Clarkston, Georgia.

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for supporting the receipt, inspection, storage, distribution, and disposal of university-owned equipment and supplies. This position ensures accurate inventory tracking, compliance with state and university policies, and efficient warehouse operations. The specialist also assists with surplus property management, vehicle fleet support, and departmental service requests. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with departments across the university and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and prepare inventory and non-inventory equipment and supplies for distribution, redistribution, or disposal.
  • Compile and maintain data from purchase orders, bills of lading, and other records to accurately document the receipt and disbursement of materials and supplies.
  • Review inventory records for accuracy and ensure compliance with state and university policies and procedures.
  • Operate forklifts, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport equipment and supplies.
  • Support warehouse operations, including routine maintenance and organization of storage areas.
  • Assist with departmental vehicle servicing and coordinate with the Fleet Coordinator on vehicle-related activities, including managing fuel card access and supporting vehicle purchase processes.
  • Liaise with the Fulton County Tax Commissioner’s Office to process vehicle tags.
  • Collaborate with university departments to coordinate surplus property pick-ups; maintain and update surplus spreadsheets to track surplus activity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three years of related experience.
  • A valid Georgia driver\’s license is required.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Requirements

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
