Facilities Management Services is seeking a Custodian I to join the Building Services Department at Decatur Campus. This position offers a competitive salary of $31,200 ($15 an hour) with great benefits.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (Shift subject to change)
Responsibilities:
- Provide custodial care for Georgia State University facilities.
- Clean and perform room set-ups in assigned building areas following established routines and procedures.
- Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, scrub, strip, restore, buff, and wax floors; vacuum.
- Remove trash, clean counters, equipment, and furnishings.
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other assigned work areas.
- Clean and restock restrooms.
- Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas.
- Handle emergency clean-ups and perform other related work as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, twist, reach overhead, push and pull floor equipment (vacuum cleaner), push and pull large trash barrels, and lift full trash bags weighing 30 pounds.
- Must possess a normal degree of dexterity.
- Employees will use cleaning chemicals daily and may work around potentially dangerous materials in certain laboratories.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; six months of experience working in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting preferred; must pass a criminal background check.
- Preferred Requirements: Ability to lift approximately 30-50 lbs; some knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
