The PantherDining Hall at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a part-time Catering Steward (Temp).

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
The Catering Steward supports the successful operation of university catering events by ensuring cleanliness and organization. The role involves working with the catering team to uphold high standards of food safety, service, and hospitality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Collect soiled china, glassware, and flatware from event spaces and return them to the dishwashing area promptly.
- Operate commercial dishwashing machines to clean items according to safety and sanitation standards.
- Inspect all cleaned items for cleanliness and damage before storage or reuse.
- Hand-wash delicate or specialty items that cannot be dishwasher-cleaned.
- Dry and polish china and glassware to maintain presentation standards.
- Transport cleaned items safely to storage or staging areas.
- Organize, sort, and store items to maintain inventory and readiness for events.
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing and storage areas.
- Follow hygiene, sanitation, and health inspection protocols.
- Report damaged or missing items and assist with inventory management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED; one year of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in food service or hospitality preferred.
- Flexible working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb ladders; work in all temperature conditions.
