Georgia‑Pacific in Darlington, SC is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Shift Electrical Technician. Our technicians are essential to our manufacturing operations, performing corrective and preventive maintenance on high‑volume manufacturing equipment such as plate‑forming presses, automated packaging machinery, and industrial printing presses. The role partners with operating teams to troubleshoot, repair, and resolve equipment issues on shift, improving equipment reliability and uptime. Work is conducted indoors in a climate‑controlled, clean environment. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working a 12‑hour rotating shift—including night, day, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Starting pay is based on skill and experience, with a $2 /hr shift incentive on all hours worked. This is a full‑time opportunity with an excellent benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Use technical knowledge to execute planned and unplanned maintenance on manufacturing assets such as printing presses, plate presses, conveyors, robots, and automated case‑packing equipment.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and controls problems per plant policies and procedures.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment failures and issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Either 2 years of electrical technical education or 5 + years of experience as an industrial electrician.
- Experience executing maintenance plans, procuring parts, and documenting work activities.
- Experience with single‑phase and three‑phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 V.
- Experience reviewing, developing, and modifying work orders for plant equipment and entering them into a maintenance system.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLCs, AC and DC motor controllers, and drives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or technical degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of manufacturing electrical/electronic troubleshooting experience.
- Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens PLCs, and/or Control Logix/RS Logix.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PanelView and FactoryTalk.
- Experience with servo systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics to troubleshoot electrical and electronics issues.
