Georgia‑Pacific is seeking Industrial Millwrights for our Dudley, NC plywood mill. This highly skilled hourly position includes a $3000 sign‑on bonus and requires a thorough understanding of safe work practices, troubleshooting and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Salary: Pay starting at $28 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Shift: Day shift with weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Location: 139 Brewington Drive, Dudley, NC.
What You Will Do
- Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to improve reliability and uptime.
- Perform periodic maintenance routines to identify and correct mechanical defects before they fail.
- Maintain operations equipment to achieve optimal performance levels.
- Collaborate with operations associates to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to safety rules and regulations, wearing required PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel‑toed boots.
- Identify machine components and coordinate order of parts as needed.
- Perform precision work, including laser alignment, belt tensioning, bolt torque specifications, and document necessary paperwork.
- Diagnose and repair mill equipment issues, including pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and other failures.
- Repair or replace mill equipment components such as conveying chain, bearings, gearboxes, motors, cylinders, etc.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- At least one (1) year of industrial mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial, military or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with bearings, chains and sprockets, rigging, belts, precision measurement, and precision alignment of motors and couplings.
- Experience with cutting, welding, and fabricating.
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience using a computer for record‑keeping and documentation functions.
- Three (3) years or more of industrial mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial, military or manufacturing environment.
- One (1) year or more of electrical experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders and working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in a sawmill environment with dust, noise, heat, and cold conditions.
