The goal of internal communications is to increase stakeholder understanding of the university's positions and aspirations. The Internal Communications Manager works across the university to increase awareness, understanding, and connection to university leadership among members of the community, fostering an internal culture of transparency and shared understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Design communication plans to effectively communicate university messaging around strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate with university leadership and university services (Finance, Auxiliary Services, Facilities, and Student Affairs) to ensure accurate and timely communications of university positions.
  • Take the lead in drafting communications in the voice of university leaders to students, faculty, staff, and the Georgetown community.
  • Serve as a central resource for best practices about newsletter distribution and event promotion, actively supporting nearly 200 events and communications professionals across the university.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications, acting as Deputy to the Director of Internal Communications and Operations Communications, to protect the university brand and position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field of study.
  • At least three to four years of experience in public relations, journalism, broadcasting, higher education, or a non‐profit institution.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good judgment, flexibility, and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and manage a high‐volume of communication initiatives simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure.

Pay Range

$47,586.00 – $87,558.13
