The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Economics Department at Fettes College in January 2027 as a part‑time teacher providing maternity cover (minimum 0.5 FTE). Currently made up of four teachers, the Department is a friendly team who share a passion for Economics and to getting the very best out of every student.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire students of all abilities and demonstrate a real enthusiasm for Economics to students aged 13-18 who are studying GCSEs, A Levels and the IB Diploma.

Successful applicants for this part‑time role would be expected to have the following characteristics:
- Excellent academic pedigree with experience of teaching Economics at GCSE,
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and to adapt communication to meet individual student needs
- Ambition, diligence, and a commitment to developing professional skills
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to motivate students, helping them build confidence, resilience, and independent learning skills
- Confidence using technology effectively to enhance teaching, learning and student engagement
A Level and/or IB Diploma
