Loretto School is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools located on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a part-time Support for Learning Teacher from August 2026.

Main Purpose of the Role

You will work closely with the Mathematics Department to support pupils in accessing, understanding and achieving success in mathematics. The role focuses on delivering targeted in-class support, one-to-one interventions, and specialist support for pupils in the GCSE resit class, ensuring that individual learning needs are met and barriers to progress are reduced. This is a part-time permanent term post, working term time.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • You will have a recognised teaching qualification and be registered with the GTCS or in the process of achieving this.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs, particularly in mathematics.
  • Strong understanding of GCSE Mathematics curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and in a supportive, encouraging manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a department and wider school team.
