We are seeking to appoint a Matron for a Boarding House to be responsible for the smooth running of the House, including the pastoral care, well-being and supervision of students. This will encompass supporting their studies and activities, handling travel, record-keeping, administration and ensuring student safety. The Matron is a key member of the Pastoral Team in a Boarding House and plays an important role in the care, welfare and safeguarding of the students in the House. The Matron reports directly to the HM (Housemistress/Master) or the AHM (Assistant) when the latter deputises, and through them to the Senior Management Team.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and caring skills with enthusiasm and good flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Calmness, a strong sense of responsibility and commitment.
  • Experience in a similar setting is an advantage, as is an SVQ3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and a first aid qualification.

Working Hours

The post-holder will be full-time, “term time” Monday-Saturday, working shifts between 07:00-13:00 or 12:30-18:30. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required to ensure the necessary level of service and care is provided.
