George Salter Academy are seeking to appoint a creative and highly organised Catering Manager with excellent culinary skills to lead our busy school kitchen and deliver a high-quality, healthy, and enjoyable food service to our students and staff. The role is 35 hours per week, term time plus 2 additional weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the school kitchen and dining service.
  • Plan and prepare healthy, balanced menus that meet school food standards.
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise the catering team to ensure a positive working environment.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen management practices.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and budgeting in line with school requirements.
  • Ensure meals are delivered efficiently during busy service periods.
  • Liaise with school leadership to support whole-school events and functions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in catering management or a similar supervisory role.
  • A relevant food hygiene and catering qualification (e.g., Level 3 Food Hygiene).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to lead a team and work well under pressure.
  • A commitment to promoting healthy eating and providing excellent service.
