We are seeking an ambitious, values driven Assistant Principal - Inclusion to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in ensuring that every pupil feels safe, supported, and able to thrive. This is a key strategic leadership post with responsibility for SEND, inclusion, wellbeing, safeguarding and pupil premium, and for removing barriers to learning for our most vulnerable pupils. The successful candidate will be a visible, credible leader who combines strong systems thinking with warmth, high expectations, and an unwavering commitment to equity.
Responsibilities- Lead whole school strategy for inclusion, SEND, and wellbeing, ensuring high quality systems, consistent practice, and impactful interventions.
- Provide strategic leadership to improve outcomes for pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils, and other vulnerable groups.
- Analyse and use inclusion, attendance, behaviour and achievement data to identify priorities and drive improvement.
- Work closely with the SENDCo, safeguarding leads, pastoral teams and external agencies to ensure pupils are safe and well supported.
- Act as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the day‑to‑day leadership and culture of the school.
- Lead and develop pastoral and inclusion teams, ensuring strong performance management and professional development.
- Undertake a teaching commitment of 15 periods per week.
- Is a qualified teacher (QTS) with substantial post‑qualification experience.
- Has demonstrated impact in improving SEND provision, inclusion, behaviour and/or attendance.
- Brings strong knowledge of safeguarding, statutory requirements and inclusive practice.
- Is an effective people leader, able to motivate, challenge and support staff and pupils.
- Has high levels of integrity, emotional intelligence and resilience.
- Shares our commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.
- Ideally has experience at Assistant Headteacher level or equivalent (desirable).
