As the Accounts Receivable Manager you are responsible for maintaining the agency’s positive Net Working Capital position through establishing effective internal communication channels to ensure healthy financial management of projects, and working with external parties to ensure timely resolution of Accounts Receivable issues. You are the key point of contact for AR and work alone on this, although you receive the full support of the rest of the team. You work closely with management to keep them updated on all aspects of company finance that you are involved in.
About You
- Strong commercial acumen and good oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision at times, whilst also understanding the importance of collaborative working.
- The ability to work with non-finance people to explain financial concepts and to help them understand the best course of action to resolve problems.
- An enquiring mind with a logical approach to work, combined with numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to work calmly and methodically under pressure.
- A keen attention to detail, working to ensure accuracy in output.
- General comfort working with IT systems, including a strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Experience of Deltek Workbook (our Accounting/ERP system) ideally, but it’s not crucial; a ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to learn the system is essential however.
Your Background, Skills & Experience
- You will ideally have experience of working in an Agency in the marketing comms sector.
- You will be keen to learn and progress within a Finance team, and may be studying for a qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Management
- Set up new clients and project numbers following appropriate compliance procedures.
- Work with the Account Management and Integrated Production teams to open, manage, reconcile and close projects.
- Understand and advise business on intercompany transactions and accounting treatments.
- Download daily bank reports and allocate all incoming funds to the sales and general ledgers.
- Raise invoices to clients using a variety of client platforms. Pay attention to VAT regulations.
- Monitor client payment terms in order to oversee Net Working Capital.
- Follow-up on overdue receivable payments.
- Manage AR aging report for management.
- Manage foreign VAT requirements including timely preparation and submission of VAT returns and answering of ad hoc queries regarding VAT.
- Assist with management of registration funds when needed, including liaison with payment processors, clients and internal project managers.
- Download VAT Report from the registration platform and prepare the VAT Return.
- Hold banking permissions with JP Morgan to create, check for approval - e.g. currency, country, amount - and release payments (alongside others in the Finance team).
- Provide training / guidance to wider company on local and global policies to help raise commercial acumen and ensure compliance.
- Audit preparation and participation as required for UK.
- Overhead cost management and the identification / implementation of cost saving initiatives.
- Provide support and guidance to other members of the Finance team.
- Other ad hoc duties including periodic special projects.
- Assist the Management Accountant with WIP and project reconciliations.
