Transport Planner / Plant Hire Desk Administrator

We are seeking an organised and proactive Transport Planner / Plant Hire Desk Administrator to join our team at our Barrhead head office.

The role will involve coordinating the internal hire and movement of HGV’s, commercial vehicles and equipment, while ensuring legal compliance, cost efficiency, and excellent service to our projects across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily transport requirements for plant and equipment across multiple sites.
  • Allocate and record hires of commercial vehicle fleet usage
  • Monitor vehicle telematics for utilisation, efficiency and compliance
  • Liaise with suppliers, hauliers, and site teams to arrange external hires and deliveries if required
  • Monitor driver hours, vehicle checks, and compliance with UK transport legislation.
  • Provide strong communication links between sites, the plant yard, and head office.
  • Use internal software to ensure all hires are allocated and charged correctly
  • Support sustainability initiatives by promoting efficient commercial vehicle use and minimising unnecessary transport.

  • Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, or plant hire (construction sector desirable).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
