Established in 1899, George Jones & Son (Contractors) Limited has always specialised in commercial painting and decorating. Over the years, we have diversified and now offer several trades surrounding building maintenance and pre-paint repairs. Our specialism is the cyclical pre-paint repair, redecoration, and maintenance of social housing, having completed over 150,000 in the last 20 years alone.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to work within our Head Office, located in Liverpool. Ideally, you will have approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role/setting and hold a degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying. Familiarity with Microsoft Project would be an advantage, as would the ability to produce Gantt charts and programmes.
We work in a wide variety of market sectors including:

We provide painting, decorating, and various maintenance services including:
- Pre-decorative repairs
- UPVC window and door replacement
- Fencing/gate repairs and replacement
- Repairs to guttering, fascia, and soffits
- Brickwork repairs and patch rendering
You will work closely with our Commercial Manager and be responsible for:
- Liaising with clients from initial enquiries through to final accounts
- Cost control and management projects
- Procuring sub-contracts and agreeing final accounts
- Carrying out site surveys
- Preparing cost reports and cash flow forecasts
- Other duties assigned by the Commercial Manager
Good IT skills with competency in Microsoft Word and Excel are required. You should be an excellent communicator, confident, polite, and courteous when communicating with colleagues, residents, clients, directors, and contractors, both verbally and in writing. A BSc in Quantity Surveying and a proven track record of relevant experience are essential. You must hold a clean full valid driving licence.
