An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist team at George Eliot Hospital. The Haematology team is a dynamic, supportive and friendly multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centred care. We are therefore looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is committed to providing the highest standard of nursing support and care to both inpatient and outpatients.
Main duties of the job:
- Working as part of a multi-professional team to deliver enhanced clinical practice to rheumatology patients and participate in education, audit and application of evidence-based practice within the specialty.
- Any applicants must have knowledge and experience in haematology and chemotherapy and possess excellent communication skills.
- You will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary Haematology team, and therefore, must be confident in acting as the patient's advocate to ensure the best outcomes throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway.

Job responsibilities:
- Carry out programmes of care and treatment determined by others.
- Manage clinical caseload on a day-to-day basis including making minor modifications within prescribed parameters reporting back to the Clinical Nurse Specialist and/or Consultant Rheumatologist.
- Provide advice in relation to the care of individual or groups of patients.
- Liaise with other nursing staff caring for clients within the specialty to provide enhanced knowledge to optimise patient care.
- Demonstrate a commitment to best practice and relevant knowledge of the NHS and modernisation agenda, seeking to develop the service as part of the professional team.
- Deliver education programmes to patients, carers and other nursing staff as agreed by the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Act as a role model exploiting at every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of others in issues relating to the specialism.
- Provide advice that contributes to the care, well-being or education of patients/clients including health promotion.
- Participate in research and audit as part of the multi-professional team within the specialism.
- Ensure that high quality data is collected for both audit and research trials, as required.
- In support of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, develop protocols of care and implement evidence-based practice.
- Provide clinical advice to patients suffering from Rheumatological disease, to ensure that patients are fully aware of treatment options available to them so that they can make informed decisions.
- Provide education and advice, to enable patients to adapt to lifestyle changes and enhance their well-being.

Qualifications and Professional Training:
- RGN/RN (Adult) NMC registration
- Willing to work towards a post grad qualification in speciality Diploma Leadership Development
Experience and Knowledge:
- Two years at Band 5
- Experience within the Speciality
