We are a US-based CPA and tax advisory firm with a growing digital presence across financial, tax, and accounting topics. We're looking for a Content Manager and SEO Editor to own our content operations — commissioning, editing, and publishing high-quality articles, service pages, and guides that rank, convert, and hold up to scrutiny in a heavily regulated niche. If you've worked in financial or legal media, you'll feel at home here.
Who we're really looking for
Someone who has worked at a financial, legal, or tax-focused online publication — think a staff editor at a personal finance outlet, a legal news site, or a compliance-focused newsletter. You understand that accuracy in this space is not optional, and you know how to translate complex regulatory language into clear, useful content without dumbing it down.
Responsibilities
- Own the editorial calendar — plan, assign, and publish content aligned with SEO priorities and business goals.
- Commission and brief freelance writers; manage relationships and quality standards across contributors.
- Edit all content for accuracy, clarity, tone, and SEO — including service pages, blog articles, and landing pages.
- Ensure every piece of content meets E-E-A-T standards: authored, sourced, and verifiable.
- Maintain and enforce a house style guide appropriate for a professional CPA firm.
SEO content operations
- Collaborate closely with the SEO Manager to translate keyword strategies and content briefs into published pages.
- Write and optimize title tags, meta descriptions, H1/H2 structure, and internal links across the site.
- Conduct content audits — identify thin, outdated, or duplicate content and lead consolidation or update efforts.
- Manage the content production pipeline from brief to publication, including developer handoff when needed.
- Monitor content performance in GA4 and GSC; use data to inform editorial decisions and identify update opportunities.
Accuracy & compliance
- Fact-check all financial, tax, and legal claims before publication — this is a YMYL site and accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Coordinate review of technical content with CPAs and enrolled agents on the team.
- Stay current on IRS updates, tax law changes, and regulatory developments relevant to content topics.
- Flag and elevate any content that ventures into legal or financial advice territory requiring professional sign-off.
Requirements
- Native English speaker — this is a firm requirement, not a preference.
- 3+ years of content editing or content management experience, ideally at a digital publication or media outlet.
- Strong background in financial, legal, tax, or accounting content — or demonstrated ability to edit in these areas accurately.
- Working knowledge of SEO best practices: keyword research, on-page optimization, content structure, internal linking.
- Experience using Google Search Console, GA4, or similar tools to evaluate content performance.
- Exceptional editorial judgment — the ability to rewrite a confusing paragraph, catch a factual error, and tighten a headline, all in the same pass.
- Comfortable working with a CMS (WordPress preferred) and basic familiarity with HTML formatting.
- Strong project management skills — able to manage multiple contributors and deadlines simultaneously.
Nice to have
- Background or degree in law, finance, accounting, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience at an online financial media outlet, legal publication, or compliance-focused newsletter.
- Familiarity with IRS terminology, US tax concepts, or CPA firm operations.
- Experience managing a team of writers or freelancers at scale.
What we offer
- Competitive compensation based on experience.
- Remote-first fully async-friendly environment.
- SEO-led editorial work alongside a dedicated SEO team.
