About the Role: As a Production Planner, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of production activities. You will be responsible for monitoring schedules, addressing material shortages, and supporting procurement functions to optimise efficiency. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production schedules and proactively address any potential delays.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, material shortages, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Work closely with procurement to expedite materials and minimise shortages.
  • Track and manage work-in-progress (WIP), ensuring alignment with project and sales requirements.
  • Monitor and reduce aged WIP, ensuring efficient job closure in the system.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) and handle non-conformities effectively.
  • Maintain accurate production data, including costings and standard times.
  • Support stock take activities and inventory management initiatives.
  • Represent the production planning function in cross-departmental meetings.
  • Assist in the documentation of processes and contribute to KPI reporting.
  • Undertake procurement tasks, including raising purchase orders and supplier engagement.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong experience in Production Planning or Materials Control within a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Proficiency in MRP systems for planning and scheduling purposes.
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to anticipate and prioritise workload effectively under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Syspro preferred) and Power BI (desirable).
  • Previous experience in procurement or buying is advantageous but not essential.
