The Role

We are seeking a VP Finance to build the finance function that will support Geordie through its next stage of growth. Your mission is to build the financial foundation that enables Geordie to scale with confidence. You'll combine rigorous financial management, thoughtful planning and modern systems to give the business the insight, discipline and operational excellence it needs to grow. Initially, you will be a hands‑on individual contributor responsible for building and operating the finance function. You'll own financial planning, reporting, forecasting, cash management and financial operations, while working closely with our external finance partners who manage bookkeeping, VAT and other compliance processes. This is not a traditional finance role focused solely on reporting historical numbers. We are looking for someone who enjoys building systems, improving processes and helping leadership make better decisions through high‑quality financial analysis and insight. Over time, you'll build an exceptionally efficient finance function that leverages automation and AI wherever practical, allowing the team to scale alongside the business without growing linearly with headcount.

What You'll Do

  • Financial Leadership
    • Own the finance function end-to-end, initially as Geordie's sole internal finance hire.
    • Build robust financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes that support rapid company growth.
    • Own the company operating model, including revenue, ARR, hiring plans, cash runway and scenario modelling.
    • Produce clear, high‑quality reporting for leadership, the Board and investors.
    • Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to provide financial analysis that supports strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Operations
    • Own cash flow management, treasury oversight and working capital.
    • Oversee invoicing, accounts payable and financial operations, working closely with external finance partners.
    • Build scalable quote‑to‑cash processes alongside RevOps and Legal, ensuring strong financial controls as the business grows.
    • Ensure banking, insurance and core financial infrastructure operate effectively.
    • Own financial compliance across our UK and US entities, including tax requirements, R&D claims and coordination with external advisers.
  • Business Performance
    • Develop a deep understanding of the company's unit economics, gross margins and customer profitability.
    • Help leadership understand where capital is being deployed most effectively and provide financial insight to support investment decisions.
    • Support commercial teams with financial analysis around customer profitability, pricing, commercial structures and larger customer opportunities.
    • Partner with Product as a finance domain expert, providing input into the evolution of Geordie's cost management capabilities.
  • Finance Systems & Automation
    • Help build a modern, highly efficient finance function through thoughtful use of AI, automation and best‑in‑class financial systems.
    • Work closely with our Internal Systems & AI Lead to identify opportunities to automate finance workflows, improve reporting and reduce manual effort.
    • Continuously improve finance systems, processes and controls to increase the leverage of the finance function as the company scales.
  • Fundraising & Growth
    • Support future fundraising processes through financial modelling, investor reporting and due diligence.
    • Help ensure the business maintains the financial discipline and operational maturity required to scale.
    • Over time, build and lead a lean, high‑performing finance team as the complexity of the business grows.

Ideal Background

  • Experience leading finance within a high‑growth B2B SaaS or technology company.
  • Strong background in FP&A, strategic finance or commercial finance, with the ability to build robust financial models and planning processes.
  • Comfortable operating as a hands‑on individual contributor while building functions from first principles.
  • Experience producing Board and investor reporting and supporting fundraising or due diligence processes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insight.
  • Experience improving finance systems, processes and operational workflows.
  • Curious about AI and excited by the opportunity to build a modern, highly automated finance function.
  • Highly proactive, organised and comfortable operating independently in a fast‑moving environment.

Why This Role

Finance has an opportunity to change dramatically over the coming decade. We believe AI and automation will fundamentally change how finance teams operate, allowing small teams to deliver far greater leverage than ever before. At Geordie, we want to build a finance function that embraces that opportunity from day one. Rather than scaling through headcount alone, we want to scale through better systems, better automation and better decision‑making. This role offers the opportunity to build that function from the ground up and, over time, grow it into a world‑class finance organisation while helping shape the future of one of the fastest‑growing AI security companies.

Our Values

  • Solve What Matters: We listen intently and stay focused on what truly matters to our customers. If it doesn't help them navigate real‑world agentic adoption and risk, it's probably not worth building.
  • Build, Learn, Iterate: We favour momentum over perfection; testing, learning, and evolving through action. It's how we move fast and get better, together.
  • Kind, Not Comfortable: We're honest, respectful, and unafraid to challenge each other. We believe doing great work should feel good, too. Kindness makes that possible.
