Our Bristol Laboratory is growing, and we’re looking for a proactive Laboratory Technician to join the team. This is a great opportunity to play a hands‑on role in essential soil testing work, contributing directly to high‑quality results in a fast‑paced laboratory environment. You’ll work to an agreed testing schedule, with support and guidance from the Laboratory Manager, while developing your technical skills and experience.
What You’ll Do
- Taking part in health and safety briefings, meetings, and training to ensure a safe working environment
- Preparing, testing, and analysing soil samples using a variety of laboratory tools and equipment
- Carrying out soil tests such as: Plastic and liquid limit testing, Particle Size Distribution (PSD) testing, Density testing
- Accurately recording, processing, and maintaining test data
- Completing and documenting daily and weekly equipment checks
- Ensuring laboratory tests are completed accurately and on time in line with approved schedules
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, detail-focused work and takes pride in delivering reliable, high-quality results.
Who We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, aligned with geotechnical, geology, soil etc.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- A flexible, can‑do attitude with a genuine willingness to learn new skills, tools, and processes
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and confidence using the wider MS Office suite
