Why Join Us? Our QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) Team supports the safe, efficient, and responsible delivery of geotechnical operations and is looking to add a QHSE & Data Protection Manager to the team who shall manage aspects of Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and take responsibility for Data Protection management (DPO) within Geoquip Marine. This is a key position supporting the continued growth and integrity of the business within the geotechnical sector. The role will lead the ongoing development of our QHSE systems, ensuring that compliance, safety, and quality are embedded across all business activities. The successful candidate will also act as the company’s Data Protection Officer (DPO), operating independently to oversee and advise on compliance with both UK and EU data protection legislation.
As our QHSE & Data Protection Manager, you will have operational independence in the execution of your Data Protection Officer (DPO) duties, reporting directly to the Executive Management on matters relating to data protection and compliance and shall not be subject to direction, influence or disadvantage from normal line management in relation to these responsibilities, to ensure full impartiality and objectivity.
What you’ll do
- Quality, Health, Safety & Environment
- Lead, develop, and maintain the company’s integrated QHSE management system.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and internal standards.
- Plan and conduct audits, inspections and management reviews across projects and departments.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses and non-conformities, preparing clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations.
- Support project and tender teams with accurate and compliant QHSE documentation.
- Provide professional advice and practical support to management and operational teams.
- Analyse QHSE performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Strengthen management systems and contractor oversight processes.
- Data Protection Officer (DPO)
- Serve as the company’s appointed Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and staff training on data protection and information governance.
- Monitor compliance and manage data incidents, breaches and subject access requests.
- Conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and advise on privacy risks.
- Liaise with the ICO, European supervisory authorities and clients where required.
- Provide regular, transparent reports on compliance status and improvements to top management.
- Compliance & Governance
- Support the company’s wider compliance and governance framework.
- Provide compliance input into tenders and project documentation.
- Maintain certification systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Work with internal teams to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Promote integrity, professionalism, and compliance in all business dealings.
Initial Priorities
- Knowledge transfer for DPO and compliance objectives
- Manage process to ensure continued UK and EU data protection compliance.
- Establish ongoing monitoring and reporting to support continual improvement.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience in a QHSE management role within an Oil and Gas, Energy, Marine or Geotechnical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage integrated QHSE systems.
- Recognised qualification or strong working knowledge as a Data Protection Officer or data protection practitioner.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU data protection law, compliance and governance.
- Recognised qualification in HSE.
- Skilled in auditing, investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience managing ISO systems 9001, 14001 and 45001.
- Extensive experience in QHSE.
Desirable
- Diploma in Management, Occupational Health and Safety or similar.
- Background in compliance, enforcement or investigative work.
- Experience preparing or reviewing tender documentation.
- Experience in contractor management and performance oversight.
- Understanding of digital data governance and information security.
- Additional qualifications or experience in law, compliance or risk management.
